Robert Ross was born in 1998 (age 25 years; as of 2023) in Acworth, Georgia, United States. He received his middle school education at Durham Middle School in Acworth. He pursued his class 12 at Allatoona High School in Acworth in 2017.

A Valedictorian, Robert was a president of various societies in his school including the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Beta Club, Speech and Debate Club, Chess Club, and Programming Club. In June 2018, Robert Ross joined ThoughtSpot, a business intelligence company in Palo Alto, California, as a software engineering intern. During his internship period, he worked on the natural language processing team. After an internship of four months, Ross started working as a software engineer at the firm. As a part of his job, Ross implemented language sentiment heuristics to better infer natural language hypotheses and resolve column ambiguity. He quit the firm in March 2019. Three months later, Robert joined Google Cloud Privacy & Security in Greater New York City as a software engineering intern. He then did a two-month internship as Quantitative Investing Summer Analyst at BlackRock, an American multinational investment company. While studying at Stanford University, Robert Ross was a part of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, where he held positions like director of recruitment, director of diversity and inclusion, and president at the university. At Stanford University, he was also a member of the Society of Black Scientists and Engineers between 2018 and 2022. Robert served as the class President at Stanford for three years (April 2019 – June 2022). He also worked as a financial officer and section leader. In June 2021, he joined Google as an associate product manager intern and helped to launch several next-generation products at Google.

Later, he worked as a full-time associate product manager at Google for around 3 months. In January 2023, he co-founded Lume (YC W23), an artificial intelligence-based software development firm.
