- Renu lost her husband, Yashpal Sharma, on 13 July 2021. Yashpal died of a heart attack at the age of 66. His funeral took place at the Lodhi cremation ground in New Delhi. Among the men in mourning were his former teammates like Madan Lal and Chetan Sharma. [1]News18
- Her husband was an active player of the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team. Yashpal played all eight matches (from India’s campaign) during the 1983 World Cup. In 2021, a Hindi film titled ’83’ was released; depicting the story of India’s incredible Cricket World Cup victory that happened in 1983. The Indian actor, Jatin Sarna played the role of Yashpal in the film.
