Career
State Championships
According to Prashanth Rai, when he was pursuing his college studies, he was part of his college Kabaddi team which won many national championships for three consecutive years. In 2006, Prashanth Rai represented the Karnataka State Police Team in the South India Men’s Kabaddi championships.
In May 2022, he represented the Bank of Baroda Kabaddi team during the South India Kabaddi tournaments organized in Chettikulam, district Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
Pro Kabaddi League (PKL)
In the first three seasons of the Pro Kabaddi League, Prashanth Rai played as a backup for the Telugu Titans, supporting Kabaddi players Rahul Chaudhary and Sukesh Hegde. In Season 2, he scored 54 points in 15 games for Telugu Titans. Later, he joined Dabang Delhi in Season 4, and in Season 5, he played for the Haryana Steelers. During Season 6 in 2018, UP Yoddha invested Rs. 79 Lakhs in him, which was reportedly the highest bid in his PKL career and the highest for a category B player in Season 6 auctions. With UP Yoddha, Prashanth Rai scored 147 points in 21 matches, crossing 100 raid points in a season.
In the 7th Season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) in 2019, Haryana Steelers acquired him, recognizing his aggressive playing style.
For Season 8 in 2022, Prashanth Rai played for the Patna Pirates, and later, he moved to the Gujarat Giants in the 9th and 10th Seasons of PKL.
Award
In 2022, Prashanth Rai was conferred with the Karnataka Ekalavya Award by the State Government of Karnataka.
