Prapanjan Kumaravel ^[1]Instagram – Prapanjan Kumaravel was born on Saturday, 25 June 1994 (age 29 years; as of 2023) in Sankagiri, Salem district, Tamil Nadu, India. His zodiac sign is Cancer.

He studied at Sri Ganesh College of Arts & Science in Salem, Tamil Nadu. His father played kabaddi at the district level, inspiring Prapanjan to follow in his footsteps. Both Prapanjan and his siblings took up the sport, with Prapanjan specializing as a raider. He did his graduation at PSN Engineering College of Technology, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.

On 26 March 2020, he got married to Keerthana Rajendran, a doctor. The couple has a son named Prakith.

Career

He did his kabaddi training at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Chennai. As Prapanjan continued to perform well in kabaddi, he earned a spot on teams participating in national-level competitions. His skills led him to join the national camp, where he had the privilege of training alongside renowned players such as Anup Kumar and Ajay Thakur. Eager to enhance his abilities, the budding athlete closely observed other players, keen on learning and mastering their tactics. During his time at the camp, he received training from coach Kasinathan Baskaran.

Pro Kabaddi League

In 2015, K Prapanjan made his Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) debut in the second season with U Mumba. He spent another season of PKL with U Mumba in 2016.

In 2017, Telugu Titans invested Rs 5 lakhs to purchase him in Pro Kabaddi League Season 4. Next year, he was purchased by Tamil Thalaivas for Rs 15 lakhs for season PKL season 5. In season 5, he played 22 matches and earned a total of 123 raid points. In season 6 of PKL, Gujarat Fortune Giants bought him for Rs 38 lakhs in 2018. He played a total of 22 matches in the tournament and scored 122 raid points and a tackle point.

He was bought by Bengal Warriors for Rs 55.50 lakhs in season 7 in 2019. In the tournament, he played 20 matches and executed a total of 205 raids, resulting in 102 raid points. Bengal Warriors won the tournament after defeating Dabang Delhi K.C. in the final match.

 

In 2021, Tamil Thalaivas bought him for Rs 71 lakhs for PKL season 8. In the season, he played a total of 7 matches in which he earned 21 total raid points. Haryana Steelers purchased him for Rs 10 lakhs in the auction for season 9 of PKL in 2022. He secured 40 raid points out of 66 total raids in the tournament. For PKL season 10, he was retained by the Haryana Steelers in 2023.

• In his leisure time, he likes to play guitar and watch films. His favourite film is the 2021 Tamil film ‘Maara.’
