On 18 May 2019, at the 1st International Plank Training Conference in Naperville, Illinois, U.S.A., Dana achieved a world record after she held the abdominal plank position for 4 hours, 19 minutes, and 55 seconds. When Dana attempted the World Record in 2019, she was able to double her personal best. Before her World Record attempt, her previous best time was 4 hours and 1 minute during practising.

  • In 2019, Dana beat the old record set by Maria Kalimera in 2015, which was 3 hours and 31 minutes. Dana’s journey to achieve this started when her son made a comment about it a year after Kalimera set the record.
  • Soon after winning the World Record for the abdominal plank, Dana Glowacka talked about the strategies she used to overcome challenges during a media interview. She said,

    When it gets very uncomfortable, I just close my eyes and focus to find my inner calm. During planking, you encounter mental barriers that you need to overcome. They come and go.”

    In the same conversation, Dana Glowacka was asked how she felt while holding the plank position for a long time. Dana responded,

    It was uncomfortable in my hips. Planking requires a strong mindset.”

  • According to Dana, her son inspired her to set a record. In a media interview, Dana talked about her first experiences when she started practising planking. She said,

    The first time I tried it, I could barely hold myself up for about 4 minutes! Slowly, I built up the time, which brought me to the 2016 International World Cup Plank Challenge in Beijing. I placed second there, with a time of two hours and five minutes.”

    Dana Glowacka said it wasn’t easy to become an ultra planker; it took many years of practice and a challenging training routine. George Hood, a former marine and the male holder of the longest plank World Record in 2019 was her trainer. When she decided to go for the World Record, she asked for his help, and he taught her his techniques. Dana revealed during a media conversation that achieving the record required daily and intense training, with a clear goal to be her best and make her son proud.
