Sachin Tanwar was born on Monday, 19 July 1999 (age 24 years; as of 2023) in the Badhbar village of Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan. His zodiac sign is Cancer. His elder brother and maternal uncle are Kabaddi players. He learnt the basics from his brother, played at his local grounds, and honed his skills. At the age of 12, Sachin moved to his maternal uncle’s, Rakesh, place in Mahendragarh, Haryana, where he played Kabaddi for the first time and found a passion for this game and decided to pursue this as a career. He started playing in local matches and became renowned for his game.

Career

National Trials 

Sachin participated in the Under 14 and Under 16 competitions, which helped his entry into the Senior India National selection trials. He came into the limelight at the national level after his performances in the Senior Nationals, which helped him earn a place in the Pro Kabaddi League in 2017. In January 2018, Sachin participated in the National Open Junior Kabaddi competition for the Rajasthan team.

In 2017, Sachin Tanwar was a part of the Indian men’s team for the Asian Kabaddi Championship and won a gold medal.

 2023 Asian Games

In October 2023, Sachin Tanwar was part of the Indian Men’s team that won the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Pro-Kabaddi League

In 2015, with the fifth season of the Pro-Kabaddi League, Sachin Tanwar made his debut in the league with the Gujarat Fortunegiants. He was just eighteen when he participated in his Pro Kabaddi debut. His debut match was against Dabang Delhi. Sachin finished Pro Kabaddi Season 5 as the tenth most successful raider with 159 raid points. He was bought by the Gujarat team by its owner Gautam Adani for Rs. 36 lakh and became his team’s most expensive rider. He finished the campaign with seven Super 10s and two Super Raids at a strike rate of 53.89%. Sachin Tanwar was also awarded the Best Debutant of the Season award.

 

In 2016, during his second season of the Pro-Kabaddi League, Sachin Tanwar scored his first Super10 in the fourth match of the sixth season against the Haryana Steelers held in Patna. By the end of the second season, he scored seven Super 10s and finished among the top 10 raid point scorers.
