She did her schooling at Vishwa Bharti Public School, Noida. She spent her childhood watching her mother, Rachna, choreographing dances and directing plays for small children in their apartment complex. She comes from a family with a musical background. In an interview, she revealed,

Music is an integral part of my family lineage. My dadi had done her Masters in Music and could play many musical instruments including the violin.”

Medha is a trained Hindustani classical singer who used to play the Sitar, Harmonium, and Keyboard during her school days. She learned music till Class 10. Growing up, Medha would actively participate in singing and dancing competitions. She was a shy kid and wanted to become a doctor. Medha Shankar started her career by competing in beauty pageants. She participated in the Campus Princess 2016 beauty pageant organized by the Miss India Organization to find contestants for Femina Miss India & Miss Diva pageants.

After countless rejections, she made her digital debut with BBC’s British historical drama Beecham House (2019). In the series, she played the role of a Mughal princess named Roshanara, the daughter of Murad Beg, who is taught Western values by an English governess named Margaret Osborne.

In 2021, she played the role of Eshwari Thakur in the romantic comedy show Dil Bekaraar on Disney+ Hotstar.

The film draws inspiration from Anurag Pathak’s non-fiction book published in 2019, narrating the compelling life journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma. Against all odds, Sharma overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer.
