Maya then went to the University of California, Los Angeles, and she is a part of the UCLA Bruins softball team.

Career
Maya started her career as a professional softball player while she was studying in the Oaks Christian High School. She won the Los Angeles Daily News Player of the Year title for hitting a .558 during a game. For her performance, Flosoftball assigned her the second rank in the nation. She was a middle infield player at Oaks Christian but she was appointed to the right-field playing position when she moved to UCLA and joined their softball team. She batted .356 and slugged .699 along with seven home runs.
