Karma Takapa

Karma Takapa is an Indian director, writer, and actor. In 2021, he appeared in the Amazon Prime Video’s supernatural crime drama ‘The Last Hour’ in which he played the role of Dev.


Karma was born in 1986 (age 35 years; as of 2021) in Gangtok, Sikkim. He hails from the Borong village in South Sikkim. Karma Takapa did his graduation in direction and screenplay writing at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. [1]Human Trail Pictures

He has worked as a director and writer in many regional films including ‘Thutse Kyuma’ (2013), ‘Yahin Kahin Nahin’ (2014), ‘Mor Mann Ke Bharam’ (2015), and ‘Ralang Road’ (2017).


He came into the limelight with the Amazon Prime Video series ‘The Last Hour’ (2021) starring Sanjay Kapoor, Raima Sen, and Shaylee Krishen.



  • In an interview, Takapa talked about Sikkimese film industry. He said,

The filmmakers have a certain level of support that has allowed them to flourish. And because of that they have been able to create films that have had a pan-India effect. It may not have as strong a reach as Bollywood but numbers that we are talking about are quite huge in terms of the region. Obviously, Sikkim would want more big-budget Bollywood projects to come and work there… Produce films. It’s great for the tourism and at the end of the day, we’re talking revenue. It’s always a plus point. This gives you some hope as you don’t have an inherent audience, which I mean in terms of the population. So you hope that it opens up to a larger number of people – the idea of the so-called world cinema.”
