Manoranjan D was born in the year 1989 (age 35 years; as of 2024) in the town Arkalgud, district Hassan, Karnataka. He completed his schooling at Marimallappa’s High School in Mysore and completed his pre-university education at St. Joseph’s College of Education, Tamil Nadu. Manoranjan D pursued his bachelor’s degree in engineering in computer science from the Bangalore Institute of Technology ^[1]The Economic Times.

Controversy

On 13 December 2023, Manoranjan D along with Sagar Sharma interrupted the proceedings of Lok Sabha by jumping from the visitor gallery to the Lok Sabha chamber during the Zero hour and creating a smokescreen by releasing yellow smoke from the canisters that they carried in their shoes. They shouted slogans against dictatorship and false patriotism while demanding the protection of the Constitution. Manoranjan D had attempted to approach the front row. The security breach incident took place on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack. Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma along with two other accused were charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that include UAPA sections 16 (punishment for terrorist act) and 18 (punishment for conspiracy, etc.) and IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 452 (trespass), 153 (wantonly giving provocation, with intent to cause riot), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty). ^[3]NDTV

Facts/Trivia

• Before the incident took place, Manorajan D used to read a lot of books by Swami Vivekananda. He even refused to get married and preferred to bury himself in books.  He was a student leader during his college days.

• Manoranjan D got to know all the other accused individuals involved in the security breach incident through an Instagram page titled ‘Bhagat Singh Fan Club.’

• It was revealed by the police that Manoranjan got the visitors’ pass from the office of Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha on the pretext of visiting the new Parliament building.

• His father claimed that the former PM HD Deve Gowda had helped his son secure an engineering seat in Bengaluru.
