In 2023, K. H. Puttaswamy Gowda contested the Karnataka Assembly polls as an independent candidate from the Gauribidanur constituency and emerged victorious. In the election, he defeated his nearest rival, an Indian National Congress (INC) candidate named N. H. Shivashankara Reddy, by a margin of 37,286 votes.

On 14 August 2000, K. H. Puttaswamy Gowda founded the M/S Asian Cylinders Limited in Bengaluru; however, in 2006, he changed the name of the company to Asian Fab Tec Limited.
