Yaseer Usman, however, criticised the speculations through a tweet and discredited them. He further clarified that phrases such as ‘live-in relationship’ or any claims implying the relationship was sexual were never used throughout the entire manuscript.

Rekha’s sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anil Gupta, on the other hand, reportedly claimed that Farzana and Rekha were in a relationship. While talking about this, in an interview, she revealed that when the entire family gathered in Delhi for family events, they noticed a significant change in Rekha’s behaviour whenever Farzana was around. Rekha’s sister-in-law, in an interview, said,
Something different was going on between Rekha and Farzana. Being friends or being sisters is very different, but Rekha and Farzana’s behavior was not the same. Rekha and Farzana had such a relationship like that of a husband and wife. I have seen all this with my own eyes.”
Career
Farzana worked as Rekha’s hairdresser in the 1980s. By 1986, she became her secretary. In 1988, Farzana moved to Rekha’s house and has resided there ever since.

- According to sources, Farzana initially aspired to be a film director and even assisted on several film projects. She, however, later decided to step away from it as she found it less engaging than anticipated.
