She did her schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya G.C.F. No. 2, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. She opted for commerce in class 11 and class 12. ^[1]The Indian Express Initially, she started learning music from her parents. She then pursued her training in music at the Divisional Bal Bhavan, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, under the Indian music guru Dr. Shipra Sullere. Later, she continued her training under Indian music guru Prakash Virunkar.

Her father, Late Anjani Vishwakarma, was a singer and owner of a recording studio. Her mother, Tejal Vishwakarma, is a singer, who participated in one of the seasons of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ but could not make it to the top finalists. Ishita has a younger sister named Anukriti Vishwakarma.

Career

In 2015, she participated in the state-level singing competition ‘Aawaz Madhya Pradesh’ and finished as the first runner-up. In the same year, she participated in the TV singing reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs,’ but she was eliminated in the Top-12 round. In an interview, while remembering the time when she participated in the show, she said,

Yes, I was on the kid’s show, but I couldn’t do well then. I got eliminated in the top 12 round. I had cried so much while going back. That’s when I resolved that I will come back to the platform. I had even promised myself that I would do better and show the world my talent.”

In 2018, she participated in the Indian TV singing reality show ‘Dil Hai Hindustani.’ In the same year, she participated in the Marathi singing reality show ‘Zee Yuva Sangeet Samraat.’ She came into the limelight after winning the Indian TV singing reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ in 2019. Ishita took home the coveted trophy along with a Hyundai car and prize money of Rs. 5 lakh.

In 2022, she participated in another TV reality show ‘India’s Got Talent.’

While she was on the show, she received an offer from one of the judges of the show Manoj Muntashir to lend her voice for the role of Sita in the Hindi mythological film ‘The Incarnation Sita’ which is under production (as of 2022). The Indian actress Kangana Ranaut will play the role of Sita in the film. She has worked as a singer in various Hindi single tracks such as ‘Labb Par Aaye Unplugged’ (2020), ‘Khayal-E-Ishq’ (2021) and ‘Meri Sohniya’ (2021).

I have worshipped Shreya Ghosal all my life. From childhood, I have dreamt of being a playback singer. Fortunately for me, I have already been given opportunities by the greatest name in the industry because of this show. I hope I manage to make my debut soon.”
