Controversy

Accused of damaging the official vehicle

In 2023, the actress was accused of damaging the official vehicle of a Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) named Rahul Hegde. According to some reports, the actress rammed her car into the officer’s car after which the officer’s driver registered a complaint against her and her close friend, David (who was sitting inside the car with Dimple), at the Jubilee Hills police station under Sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) of the IPC. In an interview, DCP Rahul Hegde claimed that the actress used to block his way with her vehicle. He further added that he has requested her several times not to do so, but the actress ignored him. While talking about this in an interview, he said,

My driver parked the car in the night at my parking lot. Later, it was found that my car was damaged on the right side. On occasions, I have to attend emergency duties. But they (accused) used to block the way for my car with their four-wheeler. I have requested them on several occasions to not block the way but it was of no use. They also used to regularly argue with my staff, watchman and other residents.”

The actress claimed that the officer was misusing his power by making false accusations against her. She also filed a counter-complaint against the DCP. However, it was reported that the police did not register her complaint. Later, the actress posted a tweet related to it, which read,

Using power doesn’t stop any mistake. Misuse of power doesn’t hide mistakes. #satyameva jayate.” [1]The Times of India
