Ashwin Kaushal is an Indian actor who is known for his roles in Hindi films including PK (2014), Ghulam-e-Mustafa (1997), and Sardari (1997).

Ashwin Kaushal Bharti was born on 22 February in Mumbai. Ashwin did his schooling at Jamnabai Narsee School (Mumbai) and pursued his studies at Mithibhai College, Mumbai. When Ashwin was studying in school, he failed 5-6 times, which led his father to withdraw his name from the school. Later, he was homeschooled by a private tutor and appeared for the 10th standard examination; however, he failed the exams. According to Ashwin, when he failed in high school examinations, his father told him to earn following which he did some odd jobs like selling clothes and ghee.

Parents & Siblings

His father, Kaushal Bharati, was a director and writer who wrote dialogues for the films Dil Diya Dard Liya (1966), Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971), and Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan (1978). On 16 January 1995, after suffering heart failure at the age of 87, he passed away. Ashwin Kaushal’s mother’s name is Bina Kaushal. Ashwin has a sister named Tanushree Kaushal, who is an actress.

Film

Ashwin Kaushal appeared in the Hindi film ‘Damini’ in 1993 in which he played the role of Rakesh Gupta.

In the film ‘Kartvaya,’ which was released in 1995, Ashwin appeared as Bhanu Singh. In 1995, he played the role of Bhushi in the film ‘Barsaat.’

He worked in the films Ghulam-e-Mustafa (1997), Chandaal (1998), Safari (1999), and Madam Don (1999). Then, after a gap of two years, he made his comeback with Mulaqaat in 2002. Ashwin Kaushal worked in the Hindi film ‘Rocky-The Rebel’ (2016) in which he played the role of Vikram Singh. He was also cast in the horror film Aatma in the year 2006. In 2014, he appeared as a metro passenger in the Bollywood film ‘PK.’

In 1987, Ashwin made his TV debut with the show Aurat, which aired on Doordarshan. In 2015, Ashwin was cast by Disney Channel alongside actor Namit Shah in the TV series ‘Goldy Ahuja Matric Pass’ in which he played the role of a father who decides to go to school at the age of 40.

Ashwin Kaushal is known for writing horror films and TV shows. He wrote the story of the Zee Horror show Madhumati (1994), a popular TV show in India. He was among the group of writers for Ekta Kapoor‘s TV series “Mano Ya Na Mano” (2006). Ashwin wrote horror stories for 20 years, which is why people started calling him a ghostwriter. Due to this, he suffered mentally. He started seeing ghosts and got sleep deprived. This made Ashwin Kaushal take a break from writing, but unfortunately, he stopped getting opportunities too.
