Anwar ul Haq Kakar aka Anwaar ul Haq Kakar [1]Twitter – Anwaar ul Haq Kakar was born in 1971 (age 52 years; as of 2023) in the Muslim Bagh area of Killa Saifullah district of Balochistan, Pakistan. He completed his schooling at St. Francis Grammar School, Quetta. He later enrolled at Cadet College, Kohat for high school education; however, his father died, and he came back to Quetta. He later pursued a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in political science and sociology at the University of Balochistan. He later moved to London to pursue a law degree; however, he returned to Pakistan in 2005. After his return, he started teaching to become financially stable and later pursued a career in politics.

Career

Politics

Anwar ul Haq Kakar started his political career in 1999 and became a member of the Pakistan Muslim League – Q (PML-Q). In 2008, he contested the National elections from the Quetta constituency on the PML-Q ticket; however, he lost. He later joined Pakistan Muslim League – N (PML-N) and served as the spokesperson of the Balochistan government from 2015 to 2017.

On 12 March 2018, he became an independent senator of Balochistan in the Pakistan National Assembly. On 29 March 2018, he formed a new political party named Balochistan Awami Party (BAP). On 14 August 2023, he took oath as the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, after Shehbaz Sharif‘s term ended, and became the 8th Caretaker PM of Pakistan.

While serving as Senator of Balochistan from March 2018 to August 2023, he served as Chairperson for the Committee of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and member of other committees including Business Advisory Committee, Finance and Revenue, Foreign Affairs, Science and Technology.

Anwar ul Haq Kakar has been actively engaged with several think tanks that contribute to shaping Pakistan’s foreign policy.
