‘Sumanth Kumar Yarlagadda,’ known as Sumanth was born on Sunday, 9 February 1975 (age 49 years; as of 2024) in Hyderabad, India. His zodiac sign is Aquarius. Sumanth stayed with his grandfather, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, in India while his parents lived in the US after his birth. Rao, who wished to experience fatherhood with his own children, raised his first grandchild himself during a hiatus from films after a major heart surgery.  In 1991, he attended Hyderabad Public School before pursuing an engineering course in Michigan, United States. However, he eventually switched to Columbia College in Chicago and graduated with a B.A. in film studies in 1997.

Sumanth got married to former actress Keerthi Reddy in August 2004. However, the couple parted ways in 2006.

Sumanth is said to be in a relationship with Pavithra. In 2021, the couple was rumored to be getting married. However, Sumanth gave clarity to the rumor in an interview and said,

Hello everyone … there are rumors that I’m getting married again. I want to give clarity to all of you on this. In real life, I’m not getting married. I am making a movie in the background of getting married again after a divorce. This is the first time in Telugu that a movie with such a storyline has come to me. Film

Sumanth began his acting career in the film ‘Prema Katha’ (1999) in which he played the role of ‘Suri.’

In 2000, he appeared in the film ‘Yuvakudu,’ in the role of ‘Siva’ and in the film ‘Pelli Sambandham,’ in which he played the role of a grandson. He appeared in three back-to-back films in 2005 including ‘Soggadu,’ in which he appeared as himself, followed by the films ‘Dhana 51,’ in which he played the role of ‘Dhana,’ and ‘Mahanandi,’ in which he played the role of ‘Shankar.’ Sumanth has worked in films like Godavari (2006), Classmates (2007), Madhumasam (2008), Pourudu (2009), Raaj (2011), Emo Gurram Egaravachu (2014), Naruda Donoruda (2016), Malli Raava (2017), Idam Jagath (2018), and many more. In 2019, he played the role of ‘Akkineni Nageswara Rao’ in the sequel of the drama films ‘NTR: Kathanayakudu’ and ‘NTR: Mahanayakudu.’ He played the role of ‘Vikram’ in the film Malli Modalaindi (2022).

He appeared as ‘Brigadier Vishnu Sharma’ in the film ‘Sita Ramam’ (2022). Sumanth has worked in three films in 2023, including ‘Vaathi,’ ‘Sir,’ and ‘Anangana Oka Rowdy.’
