Film

At the age of 12, Shanthanu made his acting debut in the Tamil film industry with “Vaettiya Madichu Kattu” (1998), a movie written, directed, and starring his father, Bhagyaraj. ^[1]The Times of India

His next project was as an assistant director to his father for his sister’s debut film, Parijatham (2006). In 2008 he starred in his first film as a lead in Sakkarakatti, which received mixed reviews from critics who deemed him to be a promising actor. ^[2]behindwoods.com The Filmfare Awards presented him with an award for Best Male Debut Actor. He made his debut in Mollywood with Angel John (2009), acting alongside veteran actor Mohanlal, another movie that received mixed reviews and did not perform particularly well.
