Alleged of demanding dowry from wife

In 2016, Priyansh’s wife accused him of demanding dowry and physically abusing her. As a result, a case was registered against him at the Barela Police Station in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The charges filed included Sections 498-A and 323 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertain to cruelty by a husband or his relatives, as well as sections 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, which prohibits the giving or receiving of dowry. ^[1]Indian Kanoon

Arrested for murdering Vedika Thakur

In 2023, Priyansh was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in the murder of a girl named Vedika. The police filed a case against him at the Sanjeevani Nagar police station, citing charges under IPC section 308, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, as well as sections 25 and 26 of the Arms Act. ^[2]Bhaskar

Vedika Thakur Murder Case

On 16 June 2023, Priyansh allegedly fired a gunshot at a woman named Vedika Thakur inside his office located in Dhanvantari Nagar. The incident resulted in severe injuries to Vedika. Rather than seeking immediate medical assistance, he drove around with Vedika in his car for about four hours. Eventually, he took her to Smart City Hospital for treatment but left the hospital premises with the pistol used in the shooting and the CCTV footage from his office. He also contacted Vedika’s brother to inform him about the incident. On 18 June 2023, a video emerged where Vedika Thakur admitted that Priyansh was responsible for shooting her.

On 19 June 2023, he was arrested by the police from Narsinghpur district. Following his arrest, he admitted to shooting Vedika. He arrived at the Dhanwantri Nagar police station in a black scorpio with the BJP flag on it. Initially, the police did not file a case against him within 24 hours. However, after Vedika’s relatives raised questions and concerns about the delay, a case was eventually registered against him at the Sanjeevani Nagar police station. The charges included IPC section 308, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, as well as sections 25 and 26 of the Arms Act.

According to Vedika’s uncle, Ashok Thakur, her initial condition showed signs of improvement after the incident. However, her condition deteriorated due to the presence of the bullet in her back, leading to an infection that spread throughout her body. As a result, Vedika underwent a stomach operation, and on 24 June 2023, the doctors made the decision to place her on a ventilator. Unfortunately, her organs started failing, and on 26 June 2023, at approximately 11:30 am, the doctors pronounced her deceased. The doctors mentioned that her organs kept failing and it was not feasible to remove the bullet from her spinal cord.

Following Vedika’s untimely demise, the police escalated the charge against Priyansh to murder. The police sent the bullet recovered from Vedika’s body to the Forensic Science Laboratory.

In response to the incident, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) released an official statement refusing Priyansh’s claim of being associated with their party. BJP Jabalpur president Prabhat Sahu issued a press release and stated,

Priyansh Vishwakarma, a resident of Ganganagar, a suspect in the recent firing, does not hold any position in the Bharatiya Janata Party.”
