Career
Nirmal Kumar Dhara became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after completing his formal education. In 2016, he contested the West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections on BJP’s ticket from the Indas constituency, reserved for the SC candidates, and lost. In the elections, he was defeated by Gurupada Mete, an All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) candidate. He contested and won the 2021 assembly polls in West Bengal from the Indas constituency on BJP’s ticket. In the elections, he defeated his nearest rival Gurupada Mete by a margin of 7,220 votes.
