Nidhi Yasha was born on Tuesday, 26 April 1983 (age 40 years; as of 2023) in Patna. Her zodiac sign is Taurus. She completed her schooling in 1999 at St. Joseph Convent High School, Patna. After this, she was enrolled in Patna Women’s College from 1999 to 2002. Then she did a four-month course on “crafting luxury in lifestyle businesses” from IIM Ahmedabad. Career

After completing graduation from NIFT, Nidhi Yasha was placed in a key position in “The TMS Group, Beijing,” (a multinational fashion buying house) which was one of the first international placements at NIFT. At The TMS Group, she lead the designs for a network of export houses managed by their 8 offices spread across continents. She had also worked with Impulse and House of Pearl Fashions, buying and exporting houses in Delhi. While working for the fashion houses in Delhi, she used to travel a lot for sampling and business development. In 2010, Nidhi Yasha founded the NY studio. In December 2018, Nidhi Yasha was felicitated as Distinguished Achiever by her school St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Patna. She is known to design costumes for movies like Haunted, Jal (a National Award-winning film), 1920 Evil Returns, Dangerous Ishq, Maximum, Zilla Ghaziabad, and Policegiri.

Television/ Web Series

Nidhi Yasha had designed costumes for the serials Mahabharat on Star plus (Asia’s most expensive drama in its time), The Buddha on Netflix, Ramleela – Ajay Devgn Ke Saath, Devon Ka Dev Mahadev, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Chandragupta Maurya, Shobha Somnath Ki, Navya, Anhoniyon Ka Andhera, Durga, Savitri, Jodha-Akbar, State of Siege – 26/11 on Zee 5, 21 Sarfarosh – Saragarhi 1897, on Netflix, and many other mythological TV shows lined up. International Projects

The Nidhi Yasha Studio had designed and manufactured costumes for the film Xuan Zang, Zhaoge, a fantasy historical Chinese saga, based on the Ming dynasty. She had also designed outfits for the writer Wong Kar Wai and EROS, a co-production house.

  • Nidhi Yasha is one of the members of FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) and showcases bi-annually at the “India Fashion Week”.

  • Having more than 15 years of experience, Nidhi Yasha is the founder and director of the luxury label brand Nidhi Yasha and also the owner of Mumbai based design house, NY studio.
  • Nidhi Yasha always wanted to have a one-stop costume destination in her career, hence she founded NY studio in 2010 with the aim of converting Indian rural textiles into urban style.
  • She had also worked with the Swastik pictures which is one of the best production houses to produce Indian mythological shows.

  • She was an external juror at NIFT, Symbiosis (Pune), and Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai, where she also delivered lectures on Indian fashion design.
  • The NY studio retails its collection at multi-designer boutiques such as Ensemble – Mumbai, Collage – Bangalore, Bombaim – Kolkata, Maalgaadi – Chennai, and Avakasa – Ahmedabad.
  • In 2019, she became the India Operation Head and partner of North America Fashion Week, where she designed and lead the entire event in Seattle with the designers participating from the whole world.

    We believe in gloss. The approach is very unrealistic here. We always look for beauty and perfect outfits, which is something I don`t agree with and wish to change it as well.”

  • Nidhi believes that designing for films gives a designer more freedom than designing for a Television show. She said in an interview,

    TV is tougher as you need to align your costumes with the thoughts of the broadcaster. You often cannot be very true to your research in case the broadcaster doesn’t agree with you. In films, you get much more freedom. You need to give one look test and you are free to design for the entire span of the movie.”
