Defects in Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination
On 30 June 2021, the division bench of Justice Manoj Misra and Justice Dinesh Pathak demanded replies from the Uttar Pradesh government on the mistakes in the question paper of the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination. Some questions in the question paper were out of the syllabus and had the wrong options for the answers. The examination was conducted to recruit 69 thousand of assistant teachers in Uttar Pradesh. The division bench ordered the appellants to file an affidavit in the next two weeks about whether the questions in the exam paper were wrong or out of the syllabus. Later, Abhishek Srivastava, along with 14 others, filed a special appeal and said that the key answers to certain questions were not correct and some questions were out of the syllabus and demanded that marks given on those questions should either be excluded or all candidates must receive equal marks against the questions. Dismissed a Petition against VIP Darshan
In 2021, Gajendra Singh Yadav, who considered himself a devotee of Lord Shiva and had been visiting Sri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) saying that the temple’s board of trustees’ decision to have a system of Sugam Darshan violates the fundamental rights under Article 14, 15, 25 and 26 of the Constitution of India. He said that a special facility of Sugam Darshan provided by the board of trustees to only those people who pay certain charges had eliminated common people from performing religious practice and exercising their right to worship. Vineet Sankalp, one of the members of the board of trustees brought the court’s attention to Section 15 of the 1983 Act under which the board shall exercise all such powers including fixed fees for the performance of any worship, service, ritual, ceremony or religious observance in the Temple. Vineet Sankalp said that Sugam Darshan Scheme was formed to enable people with physical disabilities and people who were not in a position to stand in a queue with the right to worship, but not to eliminate common worshippers from performing religious practices. On 6 February 2023, he was appointed by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, as one of the judges of the Supreme Court of India.
