Career

In 2009, Kavita Jain joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contested the Haryana assembly elections from the Sonipat constituency and won by a margin of 2,657 votes against Anil Kumar Thakkar of the Indian National Congress. She then contested from the same constituency in 2014 and defeated Dev Raj Diwan of the Indian National Congress by 25,810 votes. On 26 October 2014, she was handed over the following Cabinet Ministries of the Government of Haryana:

  • Minister of Women & Child Development
  • Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment
  • Minister of Scheduled Castes & Backward Classes Welfare

On 22 July 2016, she became the Minister of Urban Local Bodies in the Haryana government. In 2019, she contested from the Sonipat constituency for the third time in a row but lost to Surender Panwar of the Indian National Congress by 32,878 votes. [2]IndiaVotes
