Jayashree Ramaiah was an Indian model and actress who worked mainly in Kannada films.

Career

She started her career as a model. In 2017, she debuted as an actor in the Kannada film ‘Uppu Huli Khara’ in which she played the role of Jayashree.

 

She came into the limelight with the reality TV show ‘Bigg Boss 3 Kannada (2015),’ and she was eliminated in the second week of the show. In 2019, she acted in the Kannada film ‘Kannad Gothilla,’ and in the same year, she was featured in the Kannada music video ‘Olledallappo.’ She was shooting for the Kannada film ‘Shiradi Ghat’ before she committed suicide in 2021.

Death

On Sunday, 24 January 2021, she committed suicide at her residence in Pragathi layout in Magadi Road, Bengaluru, and her body was recovered on 25 January 2021. The local police said in an interview,

The actor was found hanging in a room at her residence in Pragathi layout in Magadi road in the city. The body of the actor has been sent for postmortem, and the police have started the investigation.” ^[2]India Today

Earlier on 22 July 2020, she shared a post about her depression,

I quit. Goodbye to this f*****g world and depression.”

Later, she deleted the post and shared another post saying,

I’m Alright and safe!! Love you all.”

On 25 July 2020, she shared a live video on her social media account in which she talked about her depression, she said,

I am not doing all of this for publicity sake. I am not expecting financial help from Sudeep sir as well. I am only expecting my death as I am unable to battle depression. I am financially strong but depressed. I have been going through a lot of personal issues. I have been betrayed since childhood and unable to overcome it.”

As per some sources, she was admitted to an old-age home, and she was in a rehabilitation home for her depression treatment.

• During an interview, while talking about her mother, she said,

My mom is my pillar of strength and she is always there for me in thick and thin. I always take her advice before making any important decision.”

• In 2019, she filed a police complaint against her maternal uncle against physical and sexual harassment, she said,

We were having some property dispute. I went to my maternal uncle’s place along with my mother yesterday to end the issue. But he misbehaved with me and threw us out of the house in the middle of the night. Since childhood, he has been physically and sexually harassing me like this. He used to beat me up with his shoes.”
