Jasbir Jassi is an eminent singer, lyricist, and actor who predominantly works in the Punjabi film and music industry. He is known for Punjabi folk melodies and lyrics with a touch of pop. He has given various iconic Punjabi songs such as ‘Koka,’ and ‘Dil Le Gayee Kudi’ to India’s music industry. Jasbir has lent his voice to many well-known Bollywood films including ‘Dobara’ (2004), ‘Patiala House’ (2011), and ‘Kesari’ (2019).

According to Jasbir, he studied engineering for a year as his father wanted him to become an engineer; however, Jasbir, following his inclination towards music, dropped his studies in engineering midway. Later, he started pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Classical Vocal Music at Apeejay College of Fine Art, Jalandhar, Punjab, India; Jasbir again quit his studies midway and started learning music under a guru. “Dil Le Gayee Kudi Gujarat Di” in Real

According to some sources, Jasbir Jassi met a girl from Gujarat, India at a national integration camp for youth from border areas of India in 1989. Jassi, belonging to a border village, Dhalia, in the Gurdaspur district in Punjab, and the girl belonging to Bhuj in the Kutch area of Gujarat, formed a strong bond slowly but surely. The duo fell in love over time; however, they did not end up together, and the girl got married to someone else. Reportedly, Jassi traced the girl in 1998. In the same year, while travelling to Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh with Sham Bhateja, a Punjabi singer, Jassi told Bhateja about the girl in sentiment and said ‘Dil Le Gayee Kudi Gujarat Di.’ Listening to this, Bhateja hit the idea of composing a song after this line, which eventually brought Jassi fame.

Singer

In 1993, Jasbir Jassi released his album ‘Channa Ve Teri Channani.’ In 1998, his song ‘Dil Le Gayee Kudi Gujarat Di’ was released and led Jassi to stardom.
