Miss Universe Pakistan
Erica Robin became the first Miss Universe Pakistan on 14 September 2023 in the show at the Brennia Kottefaru resort in Raa Atoll, Maldives. She was first selected in the top 5 out of 200 applicants and later defeated Hira Inam, Jessica Wilson, Malika Alvi, and Sabrina Wasim. After winning the beauty pageant show, she expressed gratitude and praise for Pakistan and said,

Controversy
Criticized for participation in Miss Universe
Many people in Pakistan criticized Erica and the organisers of the Miss Universe Pakistan pageant after which, Murtaza Solangi, Federal Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting clarified that their government had not authorised any person or group to conduct such a pageant. Many religious leaders in Pakistan called the use of the country’s name at the event a ‘shameful act’ and an ‘insult and exploitation of women in Pakistan. Politician Mushtaq Ahmed Khan wrote on Twitter,
Who are the organisers of this beauty pageant in Pakistan? Who is doing this shameful act?”
According to sources, caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar also requested the country’s intelligence agency to start an investigation against the event’s organizers to find out how they managed to conduct the pageant without official approval concerning the use of Pakistan’s name. Erica responded to the critics by saying that she would not do anything to harm Pakistan’s image and was receiving congratulatory messages from many models, news reporters, and writers.
