Erica Robin became the first Miss Universe Pakistan on 14 September 2023 in the show at the Brennia Kottefaru resort in Raa Atoll, Maldives. She was first selected in the top 5 out of 200 applicants and later defeated Hira Inam, Jessica Wilson, Malika Alvi, and Sabrina Wasim. After winning the beauty pageant show, she expressed gratitude and praise for Pakistan and said,
I am honoured and humbled to be the first-ever Miss Universe Pakistan and I want to highlight the beauty of Pakistan. We have a beautiful culture that the media is not talking about. Pakistani people are very kind, generous and hospitable.” [4]The News International

Erica’s representation of Pakistan, on the other hand, at the event was later pointed out by many politicians, including the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, and religious leaders in Pakistan. Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar later took to X and called the use of the country’s name at the event a ‘shameful act’ and an ‘insult and exploitation of women in Pakistan.’ Kakar questioned,
Who are the organisers of this beauty pageant in Pakistan? Who is doing this shameful act?”
