Dinesh Phadnis (1966-2023) was an Indian actor and writer, who predominantly worked in Hindi film and television industries. He is best known for playing the role of Inspector Fredricks aka Freddy in the TV series CID, which aired on Sony Entertainment Television. On 5 December 2023, he died of multiple organ failure.

Dinesh Phadnis appeared in the Marathi film ‘Bharla Ha Malavat Raktan’ in 1993. He made his Bollywood debut with the Aamir Khan starrer film ‘Sarfarosh’ (1999) in which he played the role of an SI Crime Branch.
In 2000, he made a cameo appearance Β in the song ‘Mela Dilon Ka’ in the film ‘Mela.’ He appeared as an officer in the film ‘Officer’ in 2001. He has also appeared in the film ‘Super 30,’ starring Hrithik Roshan. In addition to working as an actor, he has also worked as a scriptwriter for a Marathi film and a few Hindi films.

In 1993, Dinesh Phadnis essayed the role of a police inspector in the Hindi TV series ‘Fasale.’
He worked for almost 20 years (1998-2018) in the TV show ‘CID’ in which he played the role of Inspector Fredericks. The TV show was broadcast on the channel Sony Entertainment Television. He has also co-wrote some episodes of the TV show along with Sriram Raghavan (director of the film ‘Agent Vinod’).

Dinesh Phadnis passed away on 5 December 2023 around 12 a.m. at the Tunga Hospital in Mumbai, due to the failure of multiple organs.
