Deandra Dottin is a West Indies cricketer and athlete who has played in many tournaments for the West Indies national team. She competed in athletics before turning a professional cricketer in 2008. She is regarded as one of the hardest-hitting cricketers in the West Indies. She retired from international cricket in 2022.

Deandra Jalisa Shakira Dottin aka Deandra Dottin was born on Friday, 21 June 1991 (age 31 years; as of 2022) in Rock Hall village of St Andrew, Barbados. Her zodiac sign is Cancer. She played athletics particularly track and field events during her childhood and later competed in Javelin throw, shotput throw, and discus throw events. She also played cricket with boys in her neighbourhood. She went to Frederick Smith Secondary School (then St James Secondary School) in Trents, Holetown in St James. She started playing cricket formally at the age of 14 and was spotted by the West Indies player Pamela Lavine.

She played her debut ODI match on 24 June 2008 against Ireland in Dublin, Ireland and scored 33 runs not out. On 7 July 2008, she made her first ODI fifty by scoring 66 runs against the Netherlands in Deventer, Netherlands. On 13 November 2014, she took 4 wickets for 34 runs against Australia in Sydney, Australia. On 24 February 2016, she took 5 wickets for 34 runs against South Africa in London, England. On 10 October 2016, she took 4 wickets for 19 runs against England in Florence Hall, Jamaica. On 22 September 2018, she took 4 wickets for 36 runs against South Africa in Bridgetown, Barbados. In 2022, she signed up with Trinbago Knight Riders for the Caribbean Premier League and The 6ixty.

Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL)

She played in the 2015-16 WBBL season for Perth Scorchers. In the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, she played for Brisbane Heat. In 2022, she signed up with Adelaide Strikers.

Indian Leagues

She played in the Women’s T20 Challenge Tournament in 2020 for Trailblazers and in 2022 for Supernovas.

In the 2023 auction for the Women’s Premier League, she was signed up by Gujarat Giants for Rs60 lakhs against the base price of Rs50 lakhs.

She played for the Barbados team in the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England.

Retirement

She took retirement from international cricket on 1 July 2022. She credited the issues in the West Indies team as the reason behind her retirement.
