Amritpal Singh Dhillon ^[1]Kiddaan.com was born on Sunday, 10 January 1993 (age 28 years; as of 2021) in Mullianwal, Gurdaspur, Punjab, India. Later, he shifted to Canada. His zodiac sign is Capricorn. AP Dhillon did his schooling at Little Flower Convent Sr. Sec School, Gurdaspur, Punjab. He pursued civil engineering from Punjab Technical University (now known as I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University) in Kapurthala, Punjab, from 2011 to 2013. Career

In 2016, he started working as a sales associate at Esso, Victoria Downtown, BC, Canada. After working there for a year, he joined the consumer electronic company ‘Best Buy’ as a sales associate in Victoria, Canada. He then shifted his focus to pursue his career as a singer. In 2019, he released his first Punjabi single “Fake” followed by singles “Faraar” and “Top Boy.”

In 2020, he released a few more Punjabi singles like “Most Wanted,” “Droptop,” “Excuses,” and “Free Smoke.” He gained immense popularity with his Punjabi song “Brown Munde” along with the singers Gurinder Gill & Shinda Kahlon.

On 23 December 2020, he released his first music album “Not By Chance” under the music label ‘Run-Up.’ Some of the songs released under the album “Not By Chance” are “Saada Pyaar,” “Fate,” “Takeover,” and “Goat.” His Punjabi single “Ma Belle” gained immense popularity in 2021.

 

On 21 November 2021, he released the Punjabi music album “Hidden Gems” including songs like “Majhe Alle,” “Spaceship,” “Tere Te,” and “War.” Most of the songs which he has released are made in the collaboration with the Punjabi singer Gurinder Gill.

In November 2021, he visited India for his first live concert ‘AP Dhillon: The Takeover Tour’ across the six cities in India. The India based consumer electronics brand ‘boAt’ collaborated with AP Dhillon for his live tour. During an interview, while talking about his live tour, he said,

I am excited to be performing live for the first time at The Takeover Tour. Indian fans across the country and the world over have been my loudest supporters and have helped our music find its rightful place on a global stage. It is now time for the fans to finally experience the music live and I can’t wait to get there.”

Controversy

Tricolour-Resembling Shoes

On 16 August 2023, Dhillon sparked controversy after sharing a promotional picture for his song ‘With You’ on social media. In the photo, Dhillon was seen wearing multicoloured shoes which some users felt resembled the Indian tricolour flag. As the post came just after Independence Day, some wondered if it was a deliberate act of disrespect, while another user openly expressed their disdain for his actions. ^[4]The Tribune
