He became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in his early 20s. In 2021, he contested the Asmauli Block Head elections in Uttar Pradesh; however, he lost to Santosh Devi by a margin of 10 votes. He later became a member of Bharatiya Kisan Morcha.

Death
Anuj Chaudhary was shot dead outside his flat at 6 pm on the evening of 10 August 2023 when he was out for a walk with his friend, Puneet Chaudhary of Sambhal, in the Parsvnath Pratibha Society in Moradabad; he used to live in flat numbers 401 and 402 of the Tower T-7 of the Parsvnath Pratibha Society. Three men came on a bike and fired bullets at him and his friend. Anuj was hit by 4 bullets in his head, back, and shoulder, in a span of 20 seconds, and his friend also sustained a bullet injury. He was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him dead. Anuj’s family said while talking to the media that Anuj was murdered due to political enmity with Prabhakar Singh, husband of Asmoli Block Head Santosh Devi, Santosh’s son Aniket, a resident of Haji Bera, Amit Chaudhary, resident of Bhawalpur Wasli, and Pushpendra of Sambhal due to which they filed an FIR against all of them at Majhola Police Station.
Reportedly, Anuj defeated Pushpendra in the Panchayat election due to which the enmity began between them. Police investigations revealed that the killers entered the Society 20 minutes before the murder via gate number 2 where the guards, Manak Singh and Deepak, neither stopped them nor registered their details, and they left the society via gate number 1 where guard, Subhash Chandra Sharma, did not stop them.
