Career
Anjana Mumtaz was a huge fan of Meena Kumari. In 1965, she got to know that her favourite actress was shooting for Pakeezah at the Filmistan Studio. The excited Anjana went to meet Meena Kumari, who welcomed her fan with a warm smile. She also introduced Anjana to Kamal Sahab who decided to cast her in his movie Shankar Hussain, which was delayed for release. Meanwhile, she was signed for the movie Sumbundh with producer S. Mukherjee in which she debuted playing the lead role in 1969. The movie became a big hit, which marked the beginning of her journey in films. After that, she signed many big films with famous actors including Dharmendra, Mehmood, Sanjeev Kumar, and Joy Mukherjee. After that, she worked in many Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi films.
