Anjali Mehta Tendulkar was born on Friday, 10 November 1967 (age 55 years; as of 2022) in Mumbai and was raised at 75 Bhulabhai Desai Road, one of Mumbai’s most luxurious residential bungalows. Her father’s name is Anand Mehta, and her mother’s name is Anabel Mehta. Her father is a renowned industrialist of Gujarati origin, who is a former World Bridge Champion, and who owns several residential properties in Breach Candy, one of the posh areas in Mumbai. Her mother is a social worker of British origin. Her mother was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 2017 for her work through her NGO Apnalaya. She is the only child of her parents.

She got married to Sachin Tendulkar, who is often regarded as the God of Cricket, on 24 May 1995 at the ‘Jewel of India’ restaurant in Worli, Mumbai. They got engaged to each other in 1994. The couple have two children, a daughter named Sara Tendulkar, and a son named Arjun Tendulkar, who is a cricketer.

Her father-in-law’s name was the late Ramesh Tendulkar, and her mother-in-law’s name is Rajni Tendulkar. Her great-grandfather was a wealthy landowner. She has many cousins who are half-Mexican and half-Gujarati. One of her aunts is married to a Lebanese businessman.

Relationships/Affairs

Anjali dated Sachin for five years before getting married to him in 1995. In an interview, Anjali said that she first saw Sachin at Mumbai Airport in 1990 as she had gone to receive her mother, and Sachin was returning from England tour, where he scored his maiden test century. She had no idea about who Sachin was, and her friends later told her about Sachin. They later met at a common friend’s party, where they got to know each other. She was 22, and Sachin was 17 years old when they started dating. She went to Sachin’s house for the first time disguised as a journalist. During their courtship, she once went to watch the Roja film with Sachin who wore fake beards and glasses to avoid public attention and even went late; however, the public recognised him, and they had to leave the theatre midway of the film. Paediatrician

After completing her studies, she started practising at the JJ Hospital Mumbai as a Paediatrician; however, after her marriage to Sachin, she quit her job as a doctor and became a homemaker to take care of the family.   • Her marriage with Sachin Tendulkar hyped up the public so much that a cable operator offered Rs 40 lakhs to Sachin to telecast his marriage live; however, he rejected the offer, citing the marriage as a private function.
