Vasishta N. Simha was interested in acting and direction since his childhood. During his college days, he directed his first play. Talking about the same, he narrated,

I directed a play in my college days, I also won an award for that. All of this was very encouraging for me. I used to make frequent trips to a theatre in Bangalore and that attracted me more towards cinema. I started acting in theatre plays. I have acted in half a dozen plays. I left my job and put my 100 percent focus on plays. From there my cinematic journey began.”

In 2013, he made his debut in the romance Kannada film ‘Aryas Love,’ directed by Puneeth Arya. In the same year, he appeared in the comedy-drama film Raja Huli, playing the character Jagga. Vasishta N. Simha starred with Yash, Meghana Raj, Moni, Chikkanna, and Charan Raj in the Guru Deshpande-directed film. Vasishta made his cinematic debut in 2015 as Jagga in the Kannada-language action film ‘Rudra Tandava.’ Chiranjeevi Sarja, Radhika Kumaraswamy, P. Ravi Shankar, Girish Karnad, and Krishna round up the cast. The story follows Shivaraj (Sarja), a common man seeking vengeance for the murder of his brother by the local mafia. Following that, he worked on the multilingual action picture ‘Alone.’ The Kannada adaptation of the film, Alone, was released in theatres in November 2015 to mixed reviews. “The first half is awful” and “boring,” according to one Indiaglitz.com critic, but “the second half is such a superb handling by the filmmaker.” Later, he participated in films such as Karai Oram and Nan Love Track. Vasishta N. Simha’s performance as Ranga in the film ‘Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu’ was his professional breakthrough. This Kannada drama film written and directed by Hemanth Rao was released theatrically on June 3, 2016 and proved to be a box office success for Kannada cinema. He was nominated for three prizes, including the 2nd IIFA Utsavam Best Actor in a Negative Role, the 6th SIIMA Awards Best Actor in a Negative Role, and the 64th Filmfare Awards South Best Supporting Actor. He also has several opportunity to work on large projects. Simha established himself as a popular actor in the Kannada cinema industry with ‘Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu,’ and he then worked on productions such as Sundaranga Jaana, Upendra Matte Baa, and Mufti.

He appeared in Rohit Padak’s Kannada-language satire film ‘Dayavittu Gamanisi’ in 2017. He starred with Raghu Mukherjee, Samyukta Hornad, Sukrutha Wagle, Prakash Belawadi, Rajesh Nataranga, Bhavana Rao, and Sangeetha Bhat in the film Proxy. In 2018, the Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu actor came to prominence again after appearing in K.G.F: Chapter 1, one of Kannada cinema’s biggest blockbusters. The Indian Kannada-language period action film written and directed by Prashanth Neel, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, was released on 21 December 2018 and earned a total of 250 crore during its theatrical run, setting the record for the highest earning Kannada film of all time, and became a cult success. Kamal was played by Vasishta N. Simha, who co-starred with Yash, Ramachandra Raju, Srinidhi Shetty, Ananth Nag, and Achyuth Kumar. Vasishta N. Simha commented on him playing Nayeem’s part as,

After doing Narappa and KGF, filming Nayeem seemed challenging to me. I really like the depth and internal emotion in Nayeem’s character. Such characters are not often found. Opportunity comes once in a while.”

In 2022, Vasishta N. Simha announced him being the part of K.G.F: Chapter 2, he second part sequel to the 2018 film K.G.F: Chapter 1. The film features Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Vasishta N. Simha, and Prakash Raj. The story of this film be based on the After defeating Garuda, Rocky, whose name frightens his opponents, becomes the uplifter of individuals struggling at the KGF by assisting and fighting for them. Rocky is revered by his allies as their saviour. Now he must confront his greatest nemesis, Adheera, and discover more about his background. The film is announced to be released on 14 April 2022. He will be portraying the character named Kamal in this sequel.

Singing

Vasishta N. Simha made his singing debut with the song ‘Neecha Sullu Sutho Naalige’ in Rishab Shetty directed Kannada-language romantic comedy film ‘Kirik Party,’ which was released in the year 2016. Next, he came up with his second song in the film ‘Dayavittu Gamanisi’ with the unplugged song titled Marete Hodenu. In 2018, he sang another song for the sequel of the film Kirrak Party, Neechamaina. Following this, he also sang songs including 6ne Maili Title Track and Dhwaja. The actor also received huge appreciation for his singing as well from the audience. He also performs at various music concerts.

  Hansalekha is my favourite music director. I once tried to contact him to arrange a meeting. After that, I came to his notice. One day, he called and asked me to sing and that’s how my singing career began. In that period my interest in films increased. And, that’s how I entered the industry.”

• The actor has worked in both Kannada as well as in Tamil film industry. His views about working in multiple Indian film industries and establishing himself as a pan-India actor, he narrated,
  

  I feel that the result of pan-India films is always unpredictable. Instead, I believe that it is better for the artiste to make a pan-India presence. With a chance to work in different languages, the actor gets to connects with people from all regions,” he says, adding, “My entry to film industries in other languages has been accidental, and at the same time exceptional, because I was offered roles based on my previous work. Though it was unexpected, I am glad the approach made by them was based on my talent.”

• Vasishta N. Simha celebrated the year 2021 in an unusual way, adopting a lion cub on 1 January 2021. He called the cub, which is held in Bannerghatta Biological Park, Vijay Narasimha after his father.
