Film
Sameer’s debut film was ‘Nirmala Machindra Kamble’ (1999). It was a Marathi film in which he played the role of Shyamrao ‘Guruji’ Kamble. He got a breakthrough in the Hindi film ‘Satta’ (2003) directed by Madhur Bhandarkar in which he played the lead role of Vivek Chauhan alongside Raveena Tandon. For this film, he was nominated for the Best Debut Actor at the Zee Cine Awards.
In 2007, Sameer played the lead role of Shekhar in the Marathi film ‘Nirop’ directed by Sachin Kundalkar and produced by Aparna Dharmadhikari (Sameer’s wife); the film won the Best Feature Film in Marathi Award at the 55th National Film Awards. [1]The Times of India
Later he appeared in many Bollywood films including ‘Agnipankh’ (2004), ‘Raincoat’ (2004), ‘Katputtli’ (2006), ‘Restaurant’ (2006), and ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ (2008).

Sameer’s debut TV serial was Raja Aur Rancho. It was a detective series in which he made episodic appearances; the series was aired on DD Metro from 1997 to 1998. Later, Sameer appeared in many television shows including ‘Ghar EK Mandir’ (2000), ‘Shree Ganesh’ (2000-2003), and ‘Main Teri Parchhain Hoon’ (2008-2009).
He is also known for playing the roles of Gangadhar Rao Newalkar in Jhansi Ki Rani (2009), Suddhodana in Buddha (2013-2014), King Bindusara Maurya in Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat (2015-2016), and Chhatrapati Shahu in Peshwa Bajirao (2017).

His debut web series was ‘Mum Bhai’ (2020) in which he played the role of Officer Karekar. He appeared in the lead role of Sudama in ‘AB LLB’ (2023), released on MX Player.

He has appeared in many Marathi plays including ‘Sangeet Uttarkriya’ and ‘Jhali Tujhi Preet.’ He played the titular role in the English play ‘Nathhuram Godse.’
