Nalini made her television debut as a contestant on the dating reality show MTV Splitsvilla in 2009. She gained recognition for her role as ‘Trisha Swaika’ in the television serial ‘Laut Aao Trisha.’

In 2015, she appeared in two back-to-back serials named ‘Doli Armaano Ki’ in which she played the role of ‘Ishaani’ and ‘Diya Aur Baathi Hum’ in which she appeared as ‘Piya.’ Nalini acted in many serials including ‘Naamkaran’ (2016), ‘Darr Sabko Lagta Hai’ (2016), ‘Porus’ (2017), ‘Laal Ishq’ (2018), ‘Vish’ (2019), and ‘Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal’ (2023).

Row with her roommate Preeti Rana

In 2019, Nalini Negi filed an FIR against her roommate Preeti Rana and Preeti’s mother, Snehalata Rana, for physically harassing her at Oshiwara police station in Mumbai. The row between them started over a stay at Nalini’s 2BHK flat in Mumbai. According to Nalini, she used to live with Preeti in a flat in Mumbai; however, Nalini later decided to stay alone following which she moved out of the flat and rented a 2BHK flat, where, after some time, Preeti also came to stay with Nalini as Preeti was searching a new flat for her and had asked Nalini allow her live in her flat for a few days to which Nalini agreed. In the FIR, Nalini further said that after a few days, she asked Preeti to leave as Nalini’s mother had planned to visit her. Meanwhile, Preeti’s mother visited the flat, and, according to Nalini, Preeti and her mother started abusing her, and they physically assaulted her, resulting in some bruises on her face. ^[1]The Times of India

In 2009, she alleged that some of the top crew members of MTV Splitsvilla Season 2, including the director, slept in the same room as Joanna Magee, the second runner-up of the show. Negi said that there were favours being made towards the end of the show.
