Son of late Rabindra Nath Mishra, Mahimananda Mishra was born on Thursday, 7 May 1953 (age 69 years; as of 2022). An alumnus of Christ College in Cuttack, he has had leadership skills since his college days. Mishra was the President of the Students’ Union in the year 1971-72, and he also served as the president of the Students’ Union of MS Law College, Odisha from 1974-75.

Career
After completing his post-graduation from Utkal University, Mishra started his stevedoring venture in 1978 and took charge of cargo operations at Paradip Port for the next thirty years.
With sheer dedication and hard work, he established OSL Group as one of the largest corporates across the East Coast of India. A stevedoring and cargo handling company, OSL Group handles over 35 million tonnes of cargo in different sectors.
Controversies
Accused in a Murder Case
In November 2016, Mishra was booked for conspiring the murder of an executive of Seaways Shipping and Logistics Limited, Mahendra Swain. On 26 October 2016, Mahendra was shot dead while he was on his way to his office in Paradip. Although the Orissa High Court granted him bail in May 2017, the Supreme Court set aside the high court order in September 2018 and sent him into custody. Bribe Case
On 4 August 2022, the CBI officials carried out searches at Mishra’s residence and offices in connection with a Rs 25 lakh bribe. Reportedly, the bribe was allegedly paid by a contractor to a senior official of Paradip Port Authority. [2]Hindustan Times
