Hiroshi Suzuki was born on Monday, 5 June 1961 (age 62 years; as of 2023) in Kyoto City in Japan. His zodiac sign is Gemini. He grew up in Uji City in Kyoto Prefecture, and after completing his schooling at Middle School and Senior High School in Kyoto City, he moved to Tokyo. He pursued a B.A. in the Faculty of Law at The University of Tokyo, which he completed in 1985. He completed his M.A. at The Fletcher School at Tufts University, Massachusetts in 1988. He later pursued a career as a diplomat.

Career

Hiroshi Suzuki began his journey in April 1985 by joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In July 1988, he became a part of the Embassy of Japan in the United States of America. Progressing through the years, in August 1990, he was placed in the Southwest Asia Division within the Asian Affairs Bureau. In July 1992, he became the Deputy Director of the First North America Division of the North American Affairs Bureau. He continued to rise, becoming Deputy Director of the WTO Division in the Economic Affairs Bureau in February 1995. In January 1997, he was appointed as Principal Deputy Director in the First West Europe Division of the European Affairs Bureau. His roles became increasingly important as he became a Political Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan in Italy in July 1999, and later at the Embassy of Japan in the Islamic Republic of Iran in December 2001. In August 2004, he became the Director of the Fourth Division within the Intelligence and Analysis Service, also handling additional responsibilities of Executive Secretary to Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroyuki Hosoda in August 2005, and subsequently to Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe in October 2005. In September 2006, he served as the Spokesperson for International Press for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

In January 2008, he became the Director of the International Press Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His journey continued as Minister at the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Korea in January 2009, followed by being Minister at the Embassy of Japan in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in August 2011. From December 2012 to 2020, he worked as the Executive Secretary to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. In July 2020, he was appointed as Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, which included being the G7 and G20 Sherpa. In August 2022, he became an Advisor to the Special Secretariat for the State Funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. In September 2022, he became the concurrent Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India and the Kingdom of Bhutan.
