Dhanya Ananya was born on Friday, 30 October 1998 (age 24 years; as of 2022) in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Her zodiac sign is Scorpio. Dhanya moved to Kerala from Meerut with her parents when she was a 7th-grade student. Soon after completing her schooling, Dhanya pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication at Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Later, she pursued a Master of Arts in Drama and Theatre at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit at Kalady, Kerala.

Career

In 2019, Dhanya made her acting debut with the Malayalam film Athiran in which she played a supporting role. In 2020, she appeared in the film Ayyappanum Koshiyum in which she played the role of Jessy. In 2021, she appeared in the Malayalam film Operation Java in which she played the role of Janki. In 2022, Dhanya appeared in various Malayalam films like Bheeshma Pravam, Jana Gana Mana, Kotthu, and Saudi Vellaka.

  • According to Dhanya, while she was studying in school, she was not interested in pursuing a career in acting; however, after joining college, she started visiting theatres and developed an interest in acting. In an interview, Dhanya talked about this and said,

    I never even thought about acting when I was in school. Then everything changed when I did the Mass Communication and Journalism course at Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram. At that time, he acted in the project works of the students together. I used to go to the school plays. I fell in love with acting when I liked drama. When I see a character on stage, nothing else comes to my mind. I felt and I wanted to study acting and know more. But when I told this at home, there was opposition at first.   • Dhanya, while she was pursuing her undergraduate degree, used to work in Malayalam short films and music albums directed by her friends. She worked in many short films like Desperate, Extremity, and The Heart of a Dog, and music albums like Oru Sandhya and Chameli. In 2017, Dhanya’s starrer short film Heart of a Dog was selected at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). In an interview, Dhanya talked about this and said,

    I didn’t even think of becoming a movie star. I didn’t watch the movie much. I did my graduation in Mass Communication from Mar Evanious. I started acting in my friend’s short films in my second year. Short films like Desperate and Extremity, a music video called Oru Sandhya , The Heart of a Dog, Chameli and many other works.Sreekrishnan Chetan’s ‘The Heart of a Dog’ was selected at IFFK 2017. It was then that I started to feel that it would be good if I understood acting more.Theater attracted me. When he went to Thrissur for a workshop, he heard about Kaladi Sri Shankara University and enrolled there to study.”

  • Before venturing into the films, Dhanya worked as a theatre artist. In 2016, she wrote and directed a theatre play titled ‘The Play.’ She has also acted in many Malayalam theatrical productions like Thuramukham (2018) and Then (2018).
  • In 2018, Dhnaya worked as an art teacher in Kochi Muziris Biennale’s project ‘Art by Children’; Art by children works primarily with children and organizes workshops in schools as part of the Art Room programme and special exhibition activities.
