On 11 December 2020 (Friday), she was found dead at her residence in Jodhpur Park, a posh locality in Kolkata. As per the forensic experts, her nose was bleeding and she had vomited before taking her last breath. She was found lying on the floor of her bedroom. Talking to the reporters, the local police said,
Banerjee lived alone in her house with a dog. Her sister lives in Singapore. Many empty liquor bottles were found in the room. Like every day her maid had come to work and when she didn’t get any response, she alerted her neighbours and the police were informed. The house was locked from inside.
