Relationships, Wife & Children

Amruta met the Indian TV actor, Himmanshoo Malhotra in a TV reality show ‘India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj’ (2004), in which they both were contestants. They both became friends and dated for almost 10 years. While they were dating, they broke up once, and there were rumours of Amruta dating a music director. ^[2]Times of India Later, they both got back together and on 24 January 2015, the couple got married in Delhi.

Career

Amruta participated as a contestant in a talent hunt show, ‘India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj’ (2004), aired on Zee TV. In 2005, she acted in the Hindi TV serials, like ‘Ada’ and ‘Time Bomb 9/11.’ In 2006, she debuted in the Marathi film, ‘Golmaal,’ in which she played the double role.

 

She is one of the popular Marathi film actresses and has acted in various Marathi films, like ‘Zhakaas’ (2011), ‘Satrangi Re’ (2012), ‘Welcome Zindagi’ (2015), ‘Ani Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar’ (2018), and ‘Choricha Mamla’ (2020).

Apart from TV serials and Marathi films, she has also acted in Bollywood films. In 2007, she debuted in the Bollywood film, ‘Mumbai Salsa.’

Later, she played supporting roles in many Bollywood films, including ‘Himmatwala’ (2013), ‘Raazi’ (2018), and ‘Malang’ (2020).

She participated in the TV dance reality show, ‘Nach Baliye 7’ in 2015. She participated with her husband, Himmanshoo Malhotra, and the couple won the show.

In 2016, she appeared in the TV shows, like ‘24’ and ‘Comedy Nights Bachao.’ She hosted the sixth season of TV dance reality show, ‘Dance India Dance’ in 2017.

She has participated as a contestant in ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ (2015) and ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 10’ (2020).

She appeared as a judge in the TV shows like, ‘2 MAD’ (2017), ‘Super Dancer Maharashtra’ (2018), and ‘Sur Nava Dhyas Nava’ (2018).

Controversy

In 2015, Amruta and Himmanshoo received huge criticism for winning ‘Nach Baliye 6’ by unfair means. Reportedly, they violated the rules and urged their fans to vote for them a day before their final performance was telecasted on TV. ^[3]International Business Times
