Aditya Srivastava

Aditya Srivastava is an Indian actor, who predominantly works in Hindi television series and films. He is well known for playing the role of Senior Inspector Abhijeet in the popular police procedural TV show ‘C.I.D’ (1998-2018), which aired on Sony Entertainment Television.

Career

Theatre

Aditya Srivastava started his career as a theatre artist at Sangeet Samiti, Civil lines, Allahabad, while pursuing his bachelor’s degree. In 1989, he moved to Delhi, where he started performing with Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts.

Film

Aditya Srivastava made his Bollywood debut with the 1994 film ‘Bandit Queen’ in which he played the role Puttilal. In 1996, he acted in the film ‘Sanshodhan,’ starring Manoj Bajpayee. His performance as Inspector Khandilkar in the film ‘Satya’ (1998) received immense appreciation from the audience.

In 2000, he played the supporting role of Tito in the film ‘Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar.’ Earlier, he was offered to play the lead role in the film, however, it was later given to Manoj Bajpayee. Srivastava appeared as a guitarist named Murgi in Anurag Kashyap’s film ‘Paanch,’ made in 2001. Though the film was never released in theatres, it was shown as the closing film in Osian’s Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema in 2005.

He appeared as Lt. Col. Pradeep in the Hrithik Roshan starrer film ‘Lakshya’ (2004). He appeared as a lead actor for the first time in the film ‘Dil Se Pooch… Kidhar Jaana Hai’ in 2006. He essayed the role of a police officer named Avinash in the film.

He essayed the role of Karan Singh in the film ‘Gulaal’ in 2009. He played the lead role of Sameer in the 2010 film ‘Kaalo.’ In 2019, he appeared as Lallan Singh in the film ‘Super 30.’ In 2024, he appeared as Bansi Sahu in the Netflix film ‘Bhakshak.’

He made his television debut with the television series ‘Dera’ in 1992. He played the role of Madhumoy Sur in the episode ‘Kahen Kavi Kalidas’ of the TV show ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ (1994), which was broadcast on the channel DD National.

In 1997, he acted in the television drama series ‘9 Malabar Hill’ in which he essayed the role of Majid. The television series was aired on the channel Zee TV. Srivastava acted in a few episodes of the thriller horror television anthology series ‘Aahat’ (1998), which aired on Sony Entertainment Television.

He gained immense popularity after he played the role of Senior Inspector Abhijeet in the popular police procedural TV series ‘C.I.D’ (1998-2018), which aired on Sony Entertainment Television. He was selected by B. P. Singh to play the role of Abhijeet after Singh noticed him in the film ‘Satya’ (1998). Before playing Abhijeet, he played as a criminal named Paresh in the episode “The Case of the Stolen Gun” of the series.

In 2004, he played the role of Pramod in the horror television series ‘Raat Hone Ko Hai,’ which aired on the channel Sahara Manoranjan. He worked as a narrator for the historical TV drama series ‘Peshwa Bajirao’ (2017), which was broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television. In 2019, he essayed the role of Inspector Ashfaq Ali Khan in the television series ‘CIF,’ which aired on Dangal TV.

He has also made guest appearances in several shows such as ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’ (2007) on Zee TV, ‘Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur’ (2011) on Sony Entertainment Television, ‘Adaalat’ (2012) on Sony Entertainment Television, and ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati (Season 8)’ (2014) on Sony Entertainment Television.

  • In 1995, he moved to Mumbai, where he worked as a voice over artist for several advertisements and promos.
  • Initially, Aditya Srivastava was signed to act in 26 episodes in the TV series ‘C.I.D.’ However, he later it was extended and he became an integral part of the television series.
  • His name was entered into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2004 for filming the lengthiest continuous shot in the “The Inheritance” episode of the TV series ‘C.I.D.’
  • In an interview, he revealed that many times people mistook him for a real police officer. He recalled an incident that happened to him at the Delhi airport where a lady mistook him for a cop and asked him to find her missing purse.
  • He is good friends with Dayanand Shetty for more than 20 years.
