Career

In 2001, Aarathy Kasturi Raj started skating at the age of seven and took training from Satya Speed Skating Academy in Tamil Nadu, under her coach Satya Moorthy.

She has participated in many national and international championships and won more than 100 medals. Aarathy Kasturi represented India for the first time at the Asian Games (2018) held in Indonesia, where she participated in a 20 km elimination race and finished in seventh place. In October 2023, Aarathy Kasturi Raj represented India at the 19th Asian Games (2022) held in Hangzhou, China. She won a bronze medal for roller skating in the women’s speed skating 3000 m relay race event along with her teammates Karthika Jagadeeswaran and Heeral Sadhu. Sanjana Bathula was the fourth member of the women’s team in the event but didn’t compete.

The Indian women’s trio finished in third place with a time of 4 minutes 34.861 seconds, while Chinese Taipei earned the gold medal with a time of 4 minutes 19.447 seconds, and South Korea drew silver with a time of 4 minutes 21.146 seconds. Earlier, Aarathy finished in fifth place in the women’s speed skating 10000 m point-elimination race.
