Nisha Upadhyay was born on Friday, 12 April 1996 (age 27 years; as of 2023) in Gauhar Basant village in Garkha tehsil of Saran district in Bihar, India. Her zodiac sign is Aries. She was interested in music since childhood and used to sing in school-level singing competitions. Her singing talent was identified by her school teachers when she sang for the first time during a school event while studying in the third standard. She studied till 12th standard at Mahavir Public School, Saran, Bihar. She later ventured to pursue a career in the Bhojpuri music industry.

Singer
She started singing songs in 2017 with the audio album Danger Love which helped her to create hype. She slowly gained prominence and sang both, devotional, mainly Chath songs, and other Bhojpuri songs. A few of her hits include Saawariya in 2018, Darshan Kare Jaib in 2019, Sakhi Ke Yaar Pagla Gail Ba in 2021, and Pyar Mei Hoyi Badnami in 2023. She is also famous for doing live concerts and has performed in many cities of India including Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

Controversies
Breaking COVID-19 Protocols
On 2 July 2021, during her brother Ravi’s marriage, she did not follow COVID-19 protocols as more than 50 people were partying in one area, and a few of them were also without masks. Many Bhojpuri singers performed at the marriage function. When the matter was reported to the police, an FIR number 463/21 was registered against her and 102 other people under IPC sections 188/269/270/34 & 3 Epidemic Diseases and 09 bihar control of the and ply of loudspeaker act 1955 at the Garkha police station of Saran district. Road Accident by her Scorpio
On 16 November 2022, she was going for a live show, and when she was in the Ekma area of Saran district, the driver stopped Scorpio SUV and opened the door. A motorcycle rider named Dhananjay Mahto, aged 35 years, collided with the open door and later died during the treatment. Local people created a ruckus in the area following the accident due to which she had to lock herself in her SUV. Police later arrived and were able to pacify the people. An FIR number 448/22 was registered against the absconding Scorpio driver under the IPC sections 279/304(A) at the Ekma police station of Saran district. [2]Prabhat Khabar

- Her friends and fans fondly call her Nishu.
- On 30 May 2023, she was performing a live show in Sendhuar village in Chapra when an unidentified person did a celebratory firing. One of the bullets hit her left thigh after which she was rushed to Max Hospital in Patna. Her condition was later declared stable. She said in an interview that she felt pain in her thigh; however, when she saw blood, she realised that she has been hit by a bullet. [3]Outlook
