Narender Berwal is an Indian boxer. In 2023, he won a Bronze medal in the super heavyweight (+91 Kg) category of boxing at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. He is also a junior commissioned officer (JCO) in the Indian Army.

Career

He started his boxing career in 2010. Later, he began to train under his coach Davraj at SAI in Bhiwani, Haryana.

He participated in many state-level and national-level boxing championships. He won the gold medal in the 3rd Youth Haryana State Boxing Championships in Dadri, Haryana (2011), 44th Youth Men National Boxing Championships in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh (2011), 38th Junior Men Haryana State Boxing Championships (2012), and 45th Junior Men National Boxing Championship in Patiala, Punjab (2012). In 2012, he made his international debut in the super heavyweight category at the World Youth Championships in Yerevan, Armenia. In 2013, he participated in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships held in Subic, Philippines. In 2018, he defeated Sergey Egorov of Russia at the World Series of Boxing in Rohtak, Haryana. He won at the 2020 World Series of Boxing.

In 2021, he won against India’s Sagar Chikara in the semi-final match of the Indian National Championships in Bellary, Karnataka. In September 2023, he advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating his opponent Oomatbek Elchoro Uulu at the 19th Asian Games Preliminaries-R16 Men’s +92kg event.

 

He won the Bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games. Narender lost with a score of 0-5 to Kamshybek Kunkabayev of Kazakhstan in the semifinals, who is an Olympic and world championship medallist. As a result, he missed the opportunity to secure an Olympic quota. [2]Times Now
