Krishan Kumar

Krishan Kumar is an Indian actor and film producer. He is best known for playing the role of Sundar Sehgal in the Hindi-language musical thriller film Bewafa Sanam (1995). He is the younger brother of Gulshan Kumar, founder of T-Series (Super Cassettes Industries). Krishan is one of the key persons in T-Series, India’s largest Music Label & Movie Studio.

Krishan Kumar, also known as Krishan Kumar Dua, was born in Daryaganj, Shahjahanabad. His family has its roots in the Jhang province of West Punjab from where his parents migrated to Delhi as refugees after the anti-Hindu riots during the partition of India in 1947.

Actor

Krishan Kumar started his career as an actor in 1993 with the Hindi-language romantic thriller film Aaja Meri Jaan in which he played the role of Chand Kapoor.

The film was a flop. Subsequently, he appeared in the Hindi films Kasam Teri Kasam (1993) and Shabnam (1993). He gained immense popularity after playing the role of Sundar Sehgal in the Hindi film Bewafa Sanam (1995).

Film Producer

Krishan Kumar made his debut as a film producer with the Hindi film Lucky: No Time for Love (2005). Subsequently, he produced many hit films like Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006), Darling (2007), Nautanki Saala! (2013), Airlift (2016), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018), and Marjaavaan (2019). Some of his co-productions include Ready (2011), Tanhaji (2020), Thappad (2020), Adipurush (2022), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022), and Gumraah (2023).

Controversy

In 2019, a woman filed a sexual harassment complaint against Krishan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar at Oshiwara police station in Mumbai. Subsequently, a complaint was also filed against the women by Krishan Kumar at Amboli police station. Hours after filing the complaint, the woman withdrew her complaint saying, she had made ‘false allegations’ against them out of ‘frustration’ and ‘depression.’ [1]Darpan Magazine

  • Apparently, Gulshan Kumar desired to become an actor from a very young age. However, he could not fulfil his dream due to his family’s financial constraints. When Gulshan made a name for himself with T-Series, he produced a film and launched his brother, Krishan Kumar, hoping that Krishan would become a superstar one day. But, most of Krishan’s films were failures.
  • Following the demise of his brother Gulshan Kumar, Krishan Kumar went into a deep depression. He left acting and began looking after his brother’s kids.
