Javed Jeffrey was born on 4 December 1963 (age 60 years; as of 2023) in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. He did his schooling from St. Theresa’s High School, Mumbai, Maharashtra and enrolled in R. D. National College, Mumbai, Maharashtra to pursue Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).

Career

Jaffrey made his acting debut in 1975 with the film “Meri Jung.” He played a negative character in the film which was widely appreciated by the audience.

He, then, worked as an anchor in Channel V’s shows “Videocon Flashback” and “Timex Timepass.” Javed also gave his voice to several cartoon characters including “Mickey Mouse,” “Goofy,” and “Don Karnage.” His commentary for Pogo’s Japanese TV show “Takeshi’s Castle” became popular among both kids and youth.

He was the co-founder as well as the judge of India’s first dance reality show “Boogie Woogie.”

Jaffrey also conceived, wrote, and choreographed the song “Mumbhai” from the film “Bombay Boys.” The song became very popular and remained at the #1 spot for 6 weeks.

In 2008, he lent his voice to the character of Charlie Anna in the animated film “Roadside Romeo.” His performance was highly appreciated. Jaffrey has even shared the stage with the singer and dancer Michael Jackson.

Javed has been honoured with the life membership of International Film And Television Club of Asian Academy of Film & Television. He was also the brand ambassador of India’s 1st International Animation and Cartoon Film Festival.

In March 2014, Javed joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and contested the general elections from the Lucknow constituency. He ranked 5th in the elections with 41,429 votes.
