Gavie Chahal is an Indian actor and model, who mainly works in Hindi and Punjabi films. He is known for playing the role of Captain Abrar (an ISI agent) in the Hindi film series ‘Ek Tha Tiger.’

Gavie Chahal was born as Navdeepak Singh Chahal ^[1]Twitter – Gavie Chahal on Saturday, 11 November 1978 (age 45 years; as of 2023) in Village Ali Sher Khurd, Tehsil & District Mansa, Punjab, India. His zodiac sign is Scorpio. Up to class 7, he studied in a school in his village. His family then shifted to Patiala, where he completed his schooling.

Every year on 2 February, he celebrates his marriage anniversary. His son, Fateh Singh, worked as a child actor in the Hindi film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha.’

In 2000, he participated in the Mr Punjab pageant and won the title. He then appeared in various print advertisements and photoshoots of brands like Volkswagen, Tata Motors, Gili Diamonds, Prestige, Radio Mirchi, and IDBI Bank. He has appeared in TV commercials for various brands like Hyundai Santro, Classic Diamond Jewellers, and Axis Bank.

In the early 2000s, he made his Punjabi music video debut with the song “Jattan De Putt Sadhu Ho Gaye.” He has appeared in more than 60 Punjabi music videos including “Aaja Tujhe Pyar Karu” (2017; by Shakti Rajpoot & Neha Sharma), “Kissani Yodhe” (2021; by Gavie Chahal), and “Escobar” (2022; by Jaggi Amargarh).

In 2005, he made his Punjabi film debut with ‘Yaaran Naal Baharan’ in which he played the role of Deep’s friend.

Some of his other Punjabi films are ‘Mehndi Wale Hath’ (2006), ‘Majajan’ (2008), ‘Pinky Moge Wali’ (2012), and ‘Saada Jawai NRI’ (2013).

Hindi

In 2012, he made his Hindi film debut with ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ as captain Abrar.

He has appeared in a few other Hindi films like ‘Hum Sab Ullu Hain’ (2015), ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ (2017), ‘Yeh Hai India’ (2017), ‘Haunted Hills’ (2020), and ‘Tiger 3’ (2023).

Television

In 2005, Gavie made his Hindi TV serial debut with the popular serial ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ (2005; Star Plus) in a cameo appearance.

Some of his other Hindi TV serials are ‘Mohe Rang De’ (2008; Colors TV), ‘Maharaja Ranjit Singh’ (2010; DD National), ‘Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein’ (2011; Zee TV), and ‘RadhaKrishn’ (2018; Star Bharat).

Other Work

Gavie has judged various pageants like Mr Punjab 2017 and Miss PTC Punjabi 2022. He has also appeared as a judge in the 2013 Punjabi TV show ‘Big Fame Star,’ which aired on Spark TV.

He owns a film production company named Gavie Chahal Films. He has also started a YouTube channel of his production house.
