Career

Amateur Golf Player

Diksha Dagar started her amateur-level golf journey in the year 2012. In 2015, she participated in the Hero Women’s Indian Open followed by the Eastern India Ladies & Junior Girls – Faldo Series India in which she scored a total of 160 season ranks and ended up winning the tournament. In the following year, Diksha took part in a few tournaments which included the 2016 Chandigarh Ladies & Junior Girls Championship, Faldo Series India Championship, Western India Ladies & Girls Championship, and Eastern India Ladies & Junior Girls. In 2017, she participated in the Telangana Ladies & Junior Girls Championship, Northern India Ladies & Girls, and Western India Ladies & Girls Championship. She also took part in and won her maiden professional event ‘The Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour.’ In the same year, Diksha also participated in the 2017 Summer Deaflympics which were held in Turkey. Golf was included in the Summer Deaflympics for the very first time, and she won the second prize in the tournament.

In 2018, Diksha Dagar participated in Thailand’s Asia-Pacific Amateur Ladies Golf Team Championship which is better known as the Queen Sirikit Cup and registered herself as the best score by Indian by scoring three under 69 and helped the Indian team to finish sixth in the women’s team event and totalling her score to four-under over the three days, the lowest any Indian had gone in the Queen Sirikit Cup history. Professional Golf Player

Diksha Dagar started her professional golf journey in 2019 by participating in and winning the South African Women’s Open, a tournament on the 2019 Ladies European Tour. This was Diksha’s first professional win.

In the following year, Diksha became part of the 2020 Dubai Omega Moonlight Classic Tournament held in Dubai, the 2020 Summer Olympics as well as the 2020 Ladies Scottish Open which was held in Scotland.

She also represented India at the 2020 Summer Olympics which also marked her debut in the Olympics. In 2021, she took part in the 2021 Ladies European Tour and won the Aramco Team Series in London. She qualified and made her second appearance in the 2021 Summer Deaflympics which was held in May 2022 and ended up defeating USA’s Ashlyn Grace in the finals. Diksha Dagar took part in the Simone Asia Pacific Cup 2023.

In 2024, Diksha Dagar received the Arjuna Awards for Outstanding Performance in Sports and Games.

  • As a child, Diksha used to play other sports like swimming, TT, shooting, badminton, basketball, horse riding, and tennis; however, at the age of seven, she got inclined towards golf and decided to pursue it as her career option. She used to practice while wearing her hearing aids.
  • When she wanted to start her formal training, no one was willing to teach her due to her hearing problem and that’s when her father decided that he would personally teach her daughter and started providing her the formal training for golf. Diksha’s father also serves as her caddie (who carries golfer’s clubs and provides other assistance during a match).
