After completing her education, McCammond started working as a freelance political writer for the women’s magazine Cosmopolitan. Later, she joined Axios website in 2017 as a political writer, which gave a boost to her career as a political writer. McCammond covered an article about Michael Bloomberg’s withdrawal from the 2020 Democratic primary race in March 2020. She also leaked presidential schedules revealing that 60% of Donald Trump’s time spent as the president was devoted to ‘executive time.’ In March 2021, McCammond was selected as the Editor in Chief of Conde Nast’s ‘Teen Vogue.’ However, McCammond had to resign from her position as the Editor in Chief after a series of decade-old racist and homophobic tweets written by her resurfaced.

  • In March 2021, the staff members of the magazine Teen Vogue publicly condemned the racist and homophobic tweets that were made by Alexi McCammond and asked the company to cancel her employment with the firm. In response to this, Alexi made a public apology as well as apologized to the people working in the firm and decided to resign from the position of Editor-in-Chief of the Conde Nast media company.
