Rukmini Vasanth was born on Saturday, 10 December 1994 (age 29 years; as of 2023) in Bangalore, Karnataka. Her zodiac sign is Sagittarius. She attended Army Public School, Bangalore, Air Force School ASTE, Bengaluru and Centre for Learning.

Rukmini’s father’s name is Colonel Vasanth Venugopal, who was an Indian army officer.

In July 2007, Rukmini’s father lost his life battling terrorists in the Uri sector. Despite sustaining serious injuries in enemy gunfire, he bravely led his troops until they defeated all eight infiltrators. Unfortunately, he passed away before reaching the base hospital. Colonel Vasanth is the first person from Karnataka to receive India’s highest peacetime military honour, the Ashoka Chakra. Rukmini’s mother’s name is Subhashini Vasanth, who is a Bharatanatyam dancer. In 2008, Rukmini’s mother received the Ashok Chakra on behalf of her husband.

To honour her husband’s memory, she established the Vasantharatna Foundation. The foundation’s purpose is to assist and look after the families of martyrs, with a special emphasis on the wives and children of soldiers. In an interview, Rukmini added,

Basically, we have one thing is common — loss, but we have built an amazing sense of community. A camp is also organised where wives, children, sometimes grandparents come for a weekend to a corporate team building space outside Bengaluru for a workshop.”

Film

Rukmini made her debut with the Kannada film Birbal Trilogy Case 1: Finding Vajramuni in 2019 and played the role of Jahnvi.

In 2023, she acted in the movie Sapta Saagaradaache Ello – Side A, playing the character Priya. Her performance in the film brought her a lot of recognition.

She acted in two major films in 2023, the second part of Sapta Saagaradaache Ello titled Sapta Saagaradaache Ello – Side B and Baanadariyalli where she played the role of Leela.

In the same year, two other projects including Bagheera and Bhairathi Ranagal were announced.

• In an interview, she mentioned that during her training, she learned about journaling, and it proved beneficial for her when she entered the professional field. In the interview, she added,
  

  If I go to sets and don’t know how to begin my performance, I have a Meisner Performance Theory or a Stanislavsky Performance Theory to fall back on. Another thing I took from my RADA practice is journaling. During my classes, when I was preparing for a performance, I would journal as the character. This process helped me during the filming of SSE, as my character was intense and had many layers.”

• In an interview, she shared that she landed the role of Priya for the film Sapta Saagaradaache Ello by reaching out to the team after seeing an advertisement in the newspaper. Later, she went through auditions and successfully secured the part.
